D&D Themed Discord Video Monitor
The way we play tabletop games has changed dramatically since COVID, from the perspective of people not attending in-person games due to colds & flu's. We used Discord to allow people who could not attend in-person to play from home. This worked exceeding well. So I decided I would bling up an old monitor I had laying around to give it a bit of a D&D look.
I removed the display from the monitor case and built a simple box will some particle board.
First I cut strips of pink Styrofoam and cut these strips into individual bricks. The actual brick size was 18mm x 9mm x 5mm. After cutting these bricks I put them in to a large coffee container with some rocks and shook them until they were textured.
I then used PVA wood glue to stick them onto the wooden "case", in a stacked brick pattern. I gave them a coat of a black paint and Modge-Podge mixture coating.
Then finally I painted them using craft paints and "washed them" with a watered-down black ink and paint medium mixture to give them the dirty look.
After using it for a few weeks I noticed it getting hot and I drilled a number of holes in the top and added some 3D printed grills to allow the heat to vent. I then added a handle on top to allow easier transportation of it. Finally I added some simple wooded legs that made it a bit more stable.
