Frostgrave: Worm Hunt

by

Its time for another game of Frostgrave. Norm pulled the Worm Hunt scenario out of the hat. Today we were playing with Alan, Norm, John and myself.

Each of us has a few games under their belt so the usual situations in combat flew by. We stumbled on an odd situation whereby Alan's wizard threw a Grenade spell at Norm's Apprentice. After reading the scarce rules in both the Invisibility and Grenade Spells, we came up with a custom ruling for this situation: where the Invisible person cannot be in-directly targeted by a grenade unless there is a visible target {person} within 1.5" of the invisible target. This follows the Invisible Spell Description which says "The target figure becomes invisible and may not be attacked or targeted by spells (although he may still be affected by area effects, such as the blast radius of a Grenade spell)."

The game went south for John after he lost both is Wizard and Apprentice in a pitch battle with Norm and Alan. Norm found the treasure that popped up the Giant Worm. Both Alan and John, both did innovative work with the Elemental Wall Spell.

John lucked out when after the game his entire war band recovered, due to some great dice rolling. Norm took a hit in the chin when lost a few soldiers for a game.

At the end of the game, we came up with some new insights into accessories we need for the game.

  • A list of all the monsters on a cheat sheet.
  • A marker for each player to denote his place in the initiative order.
  • A marker for denoting current hit points of larger monsters. {as dice get moved}

Memorable Quotes: Norm saying "Don't help me, kill the worm" to his soldiers, as all the players took pot shots at the giant worm...
