Project: Bedroom Furniture
This is quite an old project of mine, going back to the earliest days of me woodworking. There were quite a few mistakes and issues, but each one made my later projects better.
The first image is of two low dressers, a divider box and the mirror. The drawers were made of oak veneer that was edge taped. The drawer boxes were white 3/4" melamine with 1/4" white masonite bottoms. The draw slides were the Blum "230" series 3/4 extension slides. The handles were custom made walnut handles.
The center box was supposed to be used to display "Dust Collecting Knick Knacks".
Finally, the mirror was a damaged sheet donated to me. The issue was that the corner was broken, so I decide on a slanted mirror, 6' wide and 3' tall on the left side rising to 4' tall on the right side. I made a simple wood frame and mounted the mirror in it with Silicone.

The bed was simplistic in design and execution. It was a 3/4" Oak Veneered Particle Board for the base box. The frame only supports a mattress, without a box spring. The side boards are solid oak held onto the base with angle brackets. I used Walnut 3/4" half round as a detail on the side boards and the head board. The head board pattern was a simplistic ray pattern, that looked good at the time, but looking at it now...meh.

Finally after a number of years I made the matching taller dresser to match the ones under the mirror. I made it quite a bit stronger in frame and structure, but using the same materials as the other two.

You will notice a old magazine rack... I have been always hoping to make a new head board to hold the clock radio and books, just have never actually gone through the process of building it...
